This product offers exceptional stability and excellent dynamic performance as well as freedom from spurious signals. This is achieved by careful design and use of MICROWAVE STRIPLINE techniques.

Frequency coverage 25 – 1300MHz; typical gain at 500MHz is 12dB.

The lower frequency limit is determined by a HIGH PASS FILTER which reduces breakthrough from strong MF/HF signals (Preamps without HPF can be made to order)

The preamplifier is sealed in a metal tube which has co-axial connectors at each end so that it can be fitted in-line with the feeder cable and the aerial.

The DC supply is routed up the feeder cable via a specially designed Supply Block (Splitter Box). The Supply Block also uses stripline techniques and has a VSWR of better than 1.3:1 and an insertion loss of less than 0.5dB (20 – 2000MHz).

The standard connectors are N type, which are largely water resistant and have a very good high frequency performance.

However, many discone aerials on the market employ SO239 sockets and we will make a SO239/PL259 version of the Masthead Amplifier to order (Code: GA-4MS), but due to the limitations of this connector system, we do not guarantee the upper frequency performance, also extra precautions will need to be taken to waterproof the connector joints.

The Supply Block uses BNC connectors, and can be used with either type of masthead connector. A patch lead is provided to connect the Supply Block to the receiver.
